'Wild Young Hearts' CD Release Date 20/04/2009

Two years on from a debut album awash with punk spirit and scorching blues-rock, London trio Noisettes make their return with 'Wild Young Hearts', a set of sleek pop songs steeped in soul, dizzy on disco and harking back to the days of blues and jazz greats. From the galloping funk grooves of forthcoming, first single 'Don't Upset The Rhythm', to the joyous, jazzy title track, the stomping electro-rock of 'Saturday Night', the glorious '60s-tinged soul of 'Never Forget You' and the sultry, shimmering pop of '24 Hours', in 'Wild Young Hearts', Noisettes have made what is set to be one of 2009's most adventurous albums. Never fond of a formula, the trio always intended a radical musical detour from their acclaimed debut, 'What's The Time Mr Wolf?', an album that spawned five singles and took them on tour for over a year, sharing arena stages with Muse and criss-crossing the States with TV On The Radio and Bloc Party. If you can imagine a hybrid of Blondie, Ting Tings and Rihanna, you'll begin to get an idea of how special this new record is. Vocalist Shingai Shoniwa, meanwhile, is fast becoming a style icon with the makings of a modern-day Deborah Harry.

'Back To Now' CD Release Date 20/04/2009

The original Queens of RnB are back. Patti Labelle, Sarah Dash and Nona Hendryx – collectively known as Labelle – return with a brand new album 'Back To Now'. 'Back To Now' consists of 10 brand new tracks and is produced by music legends Wyclef Jean, Lenny Kravitz and Gamble & Huff. As the powerhouse behind the constantly revered track 'Lady Marmalade' this trio paved the way for female artists to break into the 1960s male dominated music industry. The attitude, force and love for music remains intact and as much so today as 30 years ago, they're driven with a hunger and force that would put an X-factor wannabe to shame. The sound hasn't mellowed, yet simply evolved. This album is jampacked with uplifting tracks from the infectious hook of the new sisterhood anthem 'Roll Out' to the classic ballad of 'Superlover' and soaring vocals on 'Miss Otis Regrets'. If music is the food of the soul, Labelle are the main ingredient.

'Forever' CD Release Date 20/04/2009

This April Grammy Award Winner and Country Music Hall of Fame inductee Waylon Jennings' final recording 'Waylon Forever' will be released on Vagrant Records. The eight-song collection of cover songs and originals feature the vocals of Waylon Jennings backed by his son Shooter Jennings and the .357's. The inception of 'Waylon Forever' began in the late 90s when Waylon asked Shooter to collaborate on an album with him. "I'd been playing my dad the music I was inspired by at the time," Shooter explains. "Whether it was Nine Inch Nails, Skinny Puppy, Pink Floyd or Cream he really enjoyed being a part of my musical journey. It was then he suggested we do an album together". Of the recording process Shooter states, "He was always so creative and inspired by new musical directions and this was my first real album to put together. I buried myself in the studio for weeks constructing the tracks. With 20 or so songs we went into the studio to cut vocals and overdubs. Final recording sessions for the album began in 2006. Shooter then brought the .357's into the studio in Los Angeles to cut tracks to his father's vocals and complete the record. "The tracks I originally made were a little young and messy, but they were still wild. Now I feel like I been given the chance to take my years of experience and match them to his," confesses Shooter. "Either way, we did it and we now have a record that reflects his huge creative drive and the boundlessness of his own artistic mind".

"Britain's most powerful new band" – The Guardian "Timeless music that'll leave an indelible imprint somewhere between your heart and your eardrum" – The Fly "Epic, radio-friendly flag-waving tunes" – NME "A bold record that reverberates with soulful rock – Mojo The Hours follow their critically acclaimed 2007 debut album 'Narcissus Road' with the April 20th release of their second set 'See The Light' on Is Good Ltd. The album will be previewed by the release of the single 'Big Black Hole'. With 'See The Light', The Hours have repeated the magic of the 'Narcissus Road' debut. Only this time, with the help of legendary producer Flood and a full band, and aided by the art, inspiration and [to be frank] a dosh of old pal Damien Hirst, The Hours pair have created a bigger, bolder, better record. It'll blow your ears off and blast your heart. It's that good. The album was mixed by Cenzo Townshend [Kaiser Chiefs, Snow Patrol, Blur, U2]. "It's a message to me personally," explains Genn in relation to the album title, alluding to a past with more than its share of (self-induced) difficulties, "and it's a message to everyone. We're living in dark times. The song 'See The Light' is about hope; it's a plea to hold on in times that are difficult. I think it's important that we all look for positive things". Having made a brief return to the live circuit last year with dates as support to Oasis, a Little Voice gig as guests to Kasabian and a trio of intimate headline dates, plans are afoot for The Hours to embark upon more sustained touring around the release of 'See The Light'.

'Labyrinthes' CD Release Date 20/04/2009

**Laura's pick of the day. I love this band!!** One of Canada's most-revered indie-rock acts – Malajube – return in april with their ambitious 3rd album, 'Labyrinthes', on City Slang Records… 'Labyrinthes' by name and labyrinthine by nature, Malajube's third album is a delirious fantasia, bursting with energy and inventiveness and moments of unhinged beauty. Their extravagant pop is suffused with an underlying sadness whilst buoyed by an irrepressible exuberance and joy. Malajube first emerged from the artistically rich Montreal music scene in 2004 and quietly impressed with their debut record 'Le Compte Complet' before drawing a significant amount of praise for their second album 'Trompe-l'Oeil', which earned them three nominations at the 2007 Juno Awards and two Félix awards at l'Autre Gala ADISQ, for Alternative album of the year and Album cover. In September 2006, the group was one of the ten finalists nominated for the prestigious Polaris Music Prize, the Canadian equivalent of the Mercury Music Prize. They also won the awards for Artist of the year and Best Alternative Rock album at the first edition of the GAMIQ [Gala de l'Alternative Musicale Indépendante du Québec], the Rising Star and Nova Awards at the last MIMI [Montreal Independant Music Initiative] Gala in Montreal. Malajube's native language is French but the songs are so powerful that language should be no obstacle to the English speaking listener. Blending elements of classic rock with Flaming Lips-style euphoria and harmony-soaked ELO pop, garage rock in the style of Les Savy Fav with swirly Gallic keyboard sounds and grand orchestration, Malajube have forged a truly unique sound. There will be few more intriguing albums released in 2009 than 'Labyrinthes'.

'The Virgins' CD Release Date 20/04/2009

"The Virgins have impressively made their case for being massive in 2009" – NME "Let it be the soundtrack to your 2009 and your year will be ten times more exciting than usual. That's a promise" – The Fly. "A hook-filled, party-rock stunner of a debut…'The Virgins' is a sure thing for 2009" – Clash. The Virgins release their eponymous album through Atlantic Records on the 20th April 2009. The band are already at the epicentre of a flurry of ecstatic press accolades across the Atlantic – including a rapturous 4* Rolling Stone review, Alternative Press naming them as one of the '100 Bands You Need To Know', and Spin magazine's declaration that "The Virgins have had the kind of out-of-thin ether rise that causes bloggers to gush and their peers to curse". As Vice magazine put it – "We're jealous of their future, basically". The Virgins exemplify the sound and style of downtown New York City in 2009. They came together in 2006, the brainchild of songwriter/performer Donald Cumming. Having lived on NYC's streets since the age of 16, Cumming's teen years were chronicled by artist/photographer Ryan McGinley in his now legendary debut solo show at the Whitney Museum of American Art. With Cumming joined by bassist Nick Zarin-Ackerman, guitarist Wade Oates, and drummer Erik Ratensperger, The Virgins began playing at downtown parties and their third show ever saw them take Paris by storm, performing at designer Agnès B's fashion week party alongside Patti Smith and Sonic Youth. They been busy storming the US live scene in recent months, sharing stages with the likes of Cold War Kids, Tapes 'n Tapes and The Long Blondes, and also wrapped up a mammoth 36-date 'Nylon Magazine Music Tour' in June. 'Blue Roses' CD/ LP Release Date 27/04/2009

http://991.com/buy/productinformation.aspx?StockNumber=466856 http://991.com/buy/productinformation.aspx?StockNumber=466858

The debut album from Blue Roses is very much a homegrown adventure – a record full of great musical ambition & songs that tug at heartstrings & conjure up images of fairytales & long lost loves. Recorded with friends in and around Shipley in Yorkshire, 'Blue Roses' is a grand statement from Laura Groves, an artist showing great maturity beyond her 21 years. "I wanted to record in the north because it felt like the right context for the songs, and it meant that we could work in the way that we did – borrowing instruments and living rooms and things rather than having a month or so in one studio. Ultimately I think this approach contributed to the eclecticism of the record" – Laura Groves (Blue Roses). Released on CD and LP. Vinyl is packaged in a wrapped and stickered gatefold sleeve with a 12 page insert.

'Sneaky Sound System' Release Date 27/04/2009

http://991.com/buy/productinformation.aspx?StockNumber=466867 "Less debut album, more greatest hits: Sydney's 'dance punk' group has spent 73 weeks on the Australian charts with I Love It, while UFO and Pictures have had much radio love. The album will include current UK single 'I Love It', which holds the record for the longest charting single in Australian history at 73 weeks, as well as former Radio 1 Record of the Week 'Pictures' and live favourite 'UFO'. It will also feature the track 'It's Not My Problem', the Stuart Price/Thin White Duke remix of which will be released as a single on 7 June. Price offered his services after Brandon Flowers from The Killers raved to him about the band, and thus sealed the latest in a long line of collaborations for Sneaky. Vocalist Miss Connie appears on several tracks from Kanye West's 'Graduation', and the band's bassist Jonno Sloan co-wrote Empire Of The Sun's album, including the track 'Walking On A Dream'. Sneaky also contribute a track to Tiesto's new album, and have been invited to support him at Get Loaded in the Park. Sneaky Sound System are Sydney trio Miss Connie [Connie Mitchell], Black Angus [Angus McDonald] and MC Double D [Daimon Downey]. Their origins lie in the hugely successful club night 'Sneaky Sundays', whose guest DJs have included Tiga, LCD Soundystem and Hot Chip. In Australia, their new album '2' has debuted at the top of the album chart. This follows the success of their first album, which has now gone triple-Platinum and spawned four hit singles. They've also won four ARIAs (the Aussie version of The Brits). Sneaky are being awarded the coveted 'Independent Spirit Award' at this year's Australian MTV awards. The award recognises and profiles the artists that work on an indie route and artists that don't adhere to the mainstream systems.
