LEONA LEWIS ‘Happy’ [Release Date 09/11/2009]

LEONA LEWIS ‘Echo’ [Release Date 16/11/2009]

Leona's amazing story continues. After winning the hearts and minds of the public in 2006 by winning the X Factor, Leona has gone on to conquer the world. With Number One albums and singles all over the world Leona's debut album 'Spirit' has sold over 6 million copies whilst breaking records, receiving prestigious award nominations and making chart history both here and in the US along the way. Leona has spent much of 2009 back in the studio working on her new album and her brand new single 'Happy' welcomes Leona's anticipated return to work.

'Happy' is Leona doing what she does best – she's back with another trademark epic Leona ballad. From the moment the vocal comes in it's obvious how this girl has got this far in her career. 'Happy' sees Leona back with writing partner and 'Bleeding Love' compatriot Ryan Tedder and their formula has worked again. Rising from a fragile, almost acapella into, a gorgeous piano line carries it to an anthemic life-affirming chorus featuring a gravity defying vocal performance.

"That vocal was totally spontaneous, I sang it down as soon as we finished writing, sometimes it's better not to over-think things," says Leona shrugging off any fears of recreating those head-spinning high notes live. "It's weird because the highest parts of my voice – my head voice – are actually the ones that I find easier singing. I was trained in Opera so that comes really natural to me."

'Happy' gives a hint at what's to come from Leona's second album 'Echo'. 'Echo' is set for release on November 16th almost exactly two years since Leona's phenomenal debut 'Spirit'. 'Echo' promises big emotions, sweeping and widescreen melodies and spine tingling vocals. The album sees Leona teaming up again with writers Ne-Yo, John Shanks, Max Martin and Ryan Tedder as well as working with new collaborators Xenomania and Julian Bennetta.

While Leona readily admits she is well aware of the expectations on her in following up her 6 million plus selling debut 'Spirit', she is focused on putting that out of her head and just creating great songs – none more so than lead single 'Happy'

Leona says: "I'm actually more confident with this album than the last. I've taken more control this time and I feel more at ease with everything. To me, it's all about great songs and I hope the songs move people as much as they move me. I hope so anyway."

Leona admits she is at time caught off guard by the haunting, ethereal quality in her own voice and is, quite simply, moved to tears, like the millions who have been touched by her voice since she won that show and began releasing a series of songs that defied preconceived ideas of what mere 'talent show winners' could ever be or become.

"It's weird I know, but sometimes it feels like something outside myself. It's not necessarily that a lyric is even something that's happened to me but I almost feel like it has because I can get swept up by the emotion, and when I do it can be overwhelming."

CARRIE UNDERWOOD ‘Play On’ [Release Date 02/11/2009]

Four-time GRAMMY Award winner, ACM Entertainer of the Year, and reigning, three-time CMA and ACM Female Vocalist winner Carrie Underwood has clearly amassed not only the respect of the industry, but also the adulation of fans who are anxiously awaiting the arrival of her third album, which Carrie has titled 'Play On'.

Releasing November 2, 'Play On' draws its title from the name of a song featured on the new album, but it's certainly appropriate for the feelings of the countless fans who've come to love Carrie's music over the past four years. Since the release of her debut album, 'Some Hearts,' in 2005, Underwood has amassed sales of more than 10 million albums with 'Some Hearts' and 2007's 'Carnival Ride.' Along the way, she has consistently broken new ground and earlier this year became the first country artist in history and the only American Idol winner ever to achieve 10 #1 singles from their first two albums.

Carrie is currently continuing work on 'Play On,' once again teamed with producer Mark Bright, who helmed her 'Carnival Ride' collection as well as seven tracks from 'Some Hearts.'

CALVIN HARRIS ‘Flashback’ [Release Date 02/11/2009]

12”: —- Released 16/11

"A rock star ready for the big stage, rather than a bedroom producer" – Independent

Having conquered and topped the charts with over 1 million download sales and successfully sound tracked the summer, Calvin Harris returns with another huge anthemic pop smash in 'Flashback' on November 2nd on Columbia Records.

Taken from his #1 Album 'Ready For The Weekend', 'Flashback' has already become a euphoric live favourite across all of this year's major festivals (V, T-In The Park, Glastonbury, T4 on the Beach, Creamfields to name but a few) and next month sees Calvin take his acclaimed live band on a mammoth tour across all four corners of the country.

2009 has truly seen Calvin Harris step out of the shadows into becoming one of the UK most unique and engaging pop stars; from his well-documented twittering, his forays into broadcasting with Jam TV, DJing across the globe through to producing world beating songs for artists like Dizzee Rascal & Kylie…

And that's not to mention his continued desire to make every dance floor go off! This year's winter party anthem has truly arrived. The track is also backed by new mixes courtesy of David Guetta, Eric Prydz & Goldie.

WILCO ‘Being There’ [Release Date 02/11/2009]

2LP [+Bonus CD]:

In 1994, singer-songwriter Jeff Tweedy formed Wilco with three of his band mates following the break-up of alt-country pioneers Uncle Tupelo. 'A.M.,' Wilco's debut, represents his first step into increasingly adventurous territory. "Tweedy shows an undeniable feel for melody, a gift for the resonant rhyme and an unhurried voice that reeks of cigarettes and charisma," declared the Chicago Sun-Times. Wilco's second effort, 'Being There,' is an ambitious, double album of 19 songs that the Independent compared favourably to the Rolling Stones' 'Exile on Main Street'. Daring in its own right, 'Summerteeth' foreshadows the even more experimental work to come on the band's Nonesuch debut, 'Yankee Foxtrot Hotel.' Q magazine calls Wilco 'The reigning Great American Rock Band.' BBC Music recently proclaimed "Best live band?  How about plain old best band in the world right now?"

WITHIN TEMPTATION ‘An Acoustic Night At The Theatre’ [Release Date 02/11/2009]

The glorious symphonic rock of Within Temptation, crowned by the voice of stunning singer Sharon den Adel, has brought this remarkable band a decade-long international career and seen them become one of the most popular bands of their genre, selling over 100,000 units in the UK alone. Their last DVD release, 'Black Symphony,' demonstrated how Within Temptation could expand their sound to deliver magnificent orchestral arrangements and a dramatic, eye-popping show. The forthcoming live album, 'An Acoustic Night At The Theatre,' will show an entirely different but still captivating side of the band: one that can be simplified and stripped down.

In November 2008, Within Temptation branched out and embarked on a sold-out intimate theatre tour with seated audiences. This gave them the opportunity to rearrange several classics from their extensive catalogue to particularly suit an acoustic performance. The recording on this album is from the show at the Muziekcentrum Frits Philips in Eindhoven, Holland on November 30.

Robert Westerholt (guitar) explains, "I was fascinated by the idea of giving our audience a much more individual experience by focussing on the essence of our songs and reducing the show to a minimum. At the same time the acoustic arrangements and sounds let you hear different influences in our music – for example, some Celtic elements which I think come out best when played acoustically."

Sharon den Adel adds, "To show this other side of Within Temptation has been a dream of mine for quite some time. It was great to see that not only our existing fans but also people seeing us for the first time enjoyed it so much."

Two special guests are included here. Keith Caputo (Life Of Agony) joins in on prior single 'What Have You Done' and The Gathering's Anneke van Giersbergen makes a powerful duo with Sharon on a soaring 'Somewhere'.

Of additional note, the album also contains the brand new song 'Utopia,' written during the rehearsals for the theatre tour. A duet with UK singer-songwriter Chris Jones [who Sharon met while working with world-famous DJ Armin van Buuren on his track 'In And Out Of Love'].  Poignantly written, 'Utopia' is about two lovers who, rather like the royal children in [Hänsel und Gretel composer] Engelbert Humperdinck's 'Die Königskinder' fairytale opera, can't be together because they are separated by their contrasting dreams of the ideal life. Sharon elaborates, "The only way to be together is for one of them to sacrifice their dream. Utopia is a perfect world and they ask themselves: Why does it have to be like this? Why does it rain in Utopia? It really is about this one moment that we each inevitably experience: reaching a point in your life where you have to decide what you want your future to look like."  'An Acoustic Night At The Theatre' is a unique opportunity for fans to hear the band's beauty stripped bare.

HANK WILLIAMS ‘Revealed’ [Release Date 02/11/2009]

At the peak of his career in 1951, Hank Williams recorded 143 songs for the Mother's Best Flour Company, Hank sang with his regular studio band and recorded his hits as well as songs he never recorded commercially anywhere else. From this amazing legacy, Time Life is proud to release the second 3-disc set 'Hank Williams: Revealed', another historic 3-CD, 50-track collection drawn from the Mother's Best recordings. It's a rare, informal glimpse into the heart and soul of country music's greatest star who passed away on New Year's Day 1953, at age 29.

This second three-CD set drawn from the Mother's Best shows includes a little more conversation, and each disc also includes a complete show. The highlights are many. On one of the earliest surviving shows, Hank plays the just-released 'Cold, Cold Heart' without any idea of what it will do for his career. On one of the later shows, his back pain is so crippling he has to sing sitting down. The spinal problems he'd had since birth had been aggravated by the year's punishing itinerary. In the songs and chatter, Hank Williams takes us back to his world. These days, we count ourselves lucky if we find an alternate take or two by any late giant of American music. To find eighteen hours of music and talk is truly without precedent. Set the time machine for 1951.

These recordings give us a deeper insight into Hank's life and music, showing a personality that had never been revealed previously. It showcases his humor as he jokes with his band and the emcee, his love of music as he talks unguardedly about his favorite songs, and captures him in his prime. The shows are not just unreleased Hank Williams music; they're an amazing three-dimensional portrait of one of the giants of American music.

The performances were recorded on acetate discs (meant to be played only once or twice) that were shelved in 1951 and they gradually faded from common memory. In the 1970s the acetates were saved from the trash by a WSM employee and eventually given to Hank's daughter, Jett. On behalf of the estate, Jett fought an eight-year battle to establish ownership, finally winning the right to release these recordings in partnership with Time Life.

FRANK SINATRA ‘Sinatra: New York’ [Release Date 02/11/2009]

A year later, he launched a tour to benefit an international children's charity that included a show at New York's Carnegie Hall.

The third disc contains the first night of Sinatra's two-night stand at Madison Square Garden. The final CD returns to Carnegie Hall for a sold-out June 1984 show. The second half of disc four, from Radio City Music Hall in June 1990, finds Sinatra performing with an orchestra conducted by his son Frank Sinatra Jr. 'Sinatra: New York' closes with a DVD containing the singer's June 25, 1980, concert at Carnegie Hall. At the time, the two-week engagement set a record for the venue by selling out in just a day.

SPARKS ‘The Seduction of Ingmar Bergman’ [Release Date 02/11/2009]

Standard 2LP:

Deluxe 4LP [+CD]:

In 2002 Sparks released their 19th album, the much-feted and genre-generating 'Lil Beethoven'. The subsequent albums, 'Hello Young Lovers' [2006] and 'Exotic Creatures' [2008], emerged as its happy siblings with similar musical DNA, but undoubtedly their own personalities and characters, completing the trilogy whilst simultaneously raising the question "what next?"

The Times echoed the thoughts of many when saying "….where a Sparks musical is concerned, it's surely a matter of when rather than if" and, with the release of Ron and Russell Mael's 22nd album, the worlds of Sparks and musical theatre have finally become one.

Originally commissioned by the Swedish National Public radio Sveriges Radio to write and produce an original radio musical, Sparks created, 'The Seduction of Ingmar Bergman,' a musical fantasy based on the internationally acclaimed film director Ingmar Bergman.

"As Americans we have almost abandoned radio drama and it was truly exhilarating for us to work in a medium where the imagination of the listener is so integral a part of the work. Aside from our love of Bergman, we have a love of Orson Welles and his use of the medium of radio was something that inspired us in this work." – Ron Mael

"When Sveriges Radio approached us with the idea of creating our own musical for the radio, we were excited about the prospect yet hesitant at trying to figure a way to successfully fulfil their only restrictions with the project: that it incorporates the Swedish language in some manner. Once we came up with the idea of placing one of the ultimate Swedish icons and one of our favourite film directors, Ingmar Bergman, in a fantasy setting we became extremely excited about this musical and knew we were on to something special." – Russell Mael

'The Seduction Of Ingmar Bergman' is Sparks' new album. 24 songs and just over 60 minutes of wonderfully original music that tell a fantasy "what if" story. Though his films' themes have traditionally centred on matters of death, faith, God's existence, and the struggle to find love and meaning in our lives, Bergman is confronted in the musical by the lure of a mythological Hollywood seemingly at odds with all he stands for – a Hollywood that tempts him and ultimately tries to control him. What starts as an exploration by Bergman of the possible mutual benefits of his working in Hollywood turns into a Kafkaesque nightmare, a nightmare ended with the aid of a most unlikely saviour.

"Although 'The Seduction Of Ingmar Bergman' was commissioned as a radio musical, we always saw it in cinematic terms. We hope that the listeners will be able, in their own minds, to see the same movie that we wrote on hearing it on the radio and that at some point an actual film can be made of this piece. We would also like to present 'The Seduction Of Ingmar Bergman' as a theatre piece and perhaps this will be the next stage show for Sparks."

The part-Swedish version of the recording was broadcast in Sweden in August 2009 accompanied by a limited edition CD of this original Swedish version. The international English-language version of 'The Seduction of Ingmar Bergman' will initially be available as a limited edition double vinyl and download release on the band's own label Lil' Beethoven Records to coincide with radio broadcasts. To coincide with the musical launch, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Angela Lansbury have been confirmed to star in the Broadway revival of A Little Night Music opening at the Walter Kerr Theater in December. The musical is based on Ingmar Bergman's 1955 film Smiles of a Summer Night and had a benefit performance by  the Roundabout Theater Company in January, starring the late Natasha Richardson and Vanessa Redgrave. A Little Night Music will begin previews November 24th ahead of a December 13th opening.
