Throughout the 90’s, The Smashing Pumpkins were one of the most ambitious bands to come out of the grunge movement. They were a more layered, almost progressive enigma than Nirvana or Alice In Chains; visceral at their heaviest, vulnerable at their most sullen. They have remained both iconic and collectable since reaching the peak of their popularity with Siamese Dream, and we recently picked up a fantastic collection of Smashing Pumpkins rarities.
Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness: Rare 1996 UK limited edition 30-track triple vinyl LP with picture labels, featuring Tonight, Tonight, Tales Of A Scorched Earth, 1979 and Infinite Sadness, complete with twelve page illustrated lyric booklet and within an individually numbered gatefold picture sleeve with fabulous artwork. This album is now incredibly hard to find in this format and captures the band in one of their best periods. The sleeve displays just a little light edge & corner wear but still looks fantaastic, and the vinyl remains near ‘as new’ with few signs of play.
Gish: Very, very cool Fully Autographed mid 90s US 10-track LP, the platinum selling debut from 1991 by Chicago’s finest alternative band, which arrived several months before Nirvana’s Nevermind & was the slicker, morepsychedelic-rock sounding of the two Butch Vig produced albums that year. Complete with illustrated credits inner, the glossy picture sleeve is already a thing of beauty – the back panel has been personalised in the most unique way, with theclassic original line-up signatures of Billy Corgan, James Iha, D’arcy Wretzky & Jimmy Chamberlin, all in deep red marker pen, beautifully offset against the white & in keeping with the red text print, with special doodles & the confirmed date of 1996 provided by Billy. What’s more, the sleeve shows minimal wear & the vinyl looks barely played. A serious collector’s piece worthy of framing!
Adore: Autographed 1998 US original 15-track three-sided double LP, released exclusively in MONO for a slightly darker sound on vinyl, although peculiarly the cover art opts for colour over the CD version. ’17’ was also left off the vinyl release & no booklet was ever included. The hype stickered gatefold picture sleeve displays the signatures of Billy & D’ary’s in black marker pen, with Billy dating it ’98 for a nice period release signature. What’s more, the sleeve shows minimal wear & the vinyl looks barely played.
Tristessa: Rare original 1990 US marbled PINK VINYL 7″ in the Sub Pop Singles Club, also featuring the track La Dolly Vita, picture sleeve with attached coupon insert & stickered plastic outer.
