VARIOUS ARTISTS '101 Pirate Radio Hits' 4CD – Release Date 06/04/2009

image001.jpg

http://991.com/buy/productinformation.aspx?StockNumber=465254

Radio Caroline is a European radio station that started transmissions on Easter Sunday in 1964 from a ship anchored in international waters off the coast of Felixstowe, Suffolk, England. Although one of a number of unlicensed radio stations based on ships anchored off Britain, Radio Caroline was the first such station to broadcast all day using the English language. This, together with the station's tenacity in surviving for some 40 years, has established Radio Caroline as a household name for offshore radio. With the anticipated release and huge interest in the new Working Title film The Boat That Rocked, (an ensemble comedy, where the romance is between the young people of the 60s, and pop music.) EMI TV bring you 101 Pirate Radio Hits! The 101 brand has real presence in the market and has performed really solidly to date. It only makes sense to release another era defining collection and this time featuring music from the pirate radio airwaves of the 60's…..it's all there on 4 CD's….what great value!

A new collaboration from PJ Harvey and John Parish is set to be released on March 30th, 2009 through Island Records. Entitled 'A Woman A Man Walked By', the album was recorded in Bristol and Dorset, and mixed by Flood. The album has been described by journalist, John Harris, as "…mischievous, deadly serious, elegant and poetic, and possessed of a brutal power – it is doubtful that you will hear a record as brimming with creative brio and musical invention this year…". 'A Woman A Man Walked By' is a follow up to Harvey and Parish's previous collaboration 'Dance Hall at Louse Point' [1996]. John Parish co-produced 'To Bring You My Love' [1995] and also PJ Harvey's most recent release 'White Chalk' [2007]. An accomplished producer and composer, John has recorded numerous soundtracks and has worked with artists including Eels and Giant Sand. The Who

 att16f0c.jpg

http://991.com/Buy/ProductInformation.aspx?StockNumber=464657

It was an astonishingly bold concept by the producer Lou Reizner to present the Who's rock opera 'Tommy' as a dramatised, all-star extravaganza. Originally released as a double LP in a slipcase with lavish, illustrations, this was the first ever 'coffee table' album. And it proved a huge best seller when first released in 1971 and helped on its way by the hit single version of 'Pinball Wizard', sung with gusto by Rod Stewart on the album. Among the other guest performers accompanied by the mighty orchestra and choir are Pete Townshend, Sandy Denny, Richie Havens, Stevie Winwood, Roger Daltrey, John Entwistle, Maggie Bell, Ringo Starr and even movie actor Richard Harris. This important CD re-issue serves not only as a tribute to the genius of the Who and composer Townshend, but as a memorial to Lou Reizner, a pioneer of multi-media projects, who died aged just 43 in 1977. A real collector's item, this brings back golden memories of rock's boldest, brashest era.

Chris-Cornell-Scream-464185.jpg

http://991.com/Buy/ProductInformation.aspx?StockNumber=464185

It's not often that two legends in music get together to record a full album, and even rarer that they're from completely opposite ends of the musical spectrum. Ex-Soundgarden/Audioslave vocalist Chris Cornell has teamed up with hip hop and pop super-producer Timbaland to create an extraordinary new album entitled 'Scream' which will be released on 23 March. The first single from the record will be 'Part Of Me' released on 9 March. All the songs on 'Scream' which were written by Chris Cornell and produced by Timbaland make up an album that was inspired partly by Pink Floyd's all-time classic album 'The Wall'. All 13 of the songs on 'Scream' flow into each other giving it the feel of one complete work with no breaks, drawing on both artists talents to re-write the modern musical rulebook.
