Celebrating 25 years of the ultra-heavy beat, KMFDM proudly announces their new album on Metropolis Records, 'Blitz'. Blitz heralds the return to the five- letter album name, an 18-year tradition that the band obliterated with their recent ten-letter name albums, Tohuvabohu (2007) and Brimborium (2008).
Blitz contains 11 new sonic blasts from the Kapt'n and Krew. Under the direction of KMFDM founder, leader and vocalist Sascha K, 'Blitz' is dominated by analogue synthetics with high-powered hooks. KMFDM's female singer, Lucia, lends her vocal power to the groove-laden 'Bait & Switch', the dance-driven 'Never Say Never' and others. The tracks are rounded out by some assistance from the KMFDM line-up of the last half-decade – Jules Hodgson, Andy Selway and Steve White.
One surprise element of 'Blitz' is the return of wayward KMFDM-er Tim Skold, lending a hand throughout with instrumentation and production. Another unexpected reappearance comes in the form of singer Cheryl Wilson, dueting with Lucia on the disco-amped 'Strut'.
Adding to the growing list of languages sung in the KMFDM canon (English, German, Latin, Hebrew, Lingala and Spanish), KMFDM breaks new ground with 'Davai', sung in Russian. Of course there is still room in the catalogue for another German language track and KMFDM delivers with "Potz Blitz!".
Joining the pantheon of illustrious KMFDM covers is The Human League's seminal new wave juggernaut 'Being Boiled', given the full-on electro treatment by Sascha K. 'Blitz' provides the complete KMFDM experience, running the gamut of the band's expressive styles and themes, from the ultimate irony of 'Bitches' to the political militarism of the final track, 'Take'm Out'. KMFDM invites you to experience full blown chaos with 'Blitz', the ultimate blast!

Nickel Eye is the solo project of The Strokes' bassist Nikolai Fraiture. When The Strokes' hiatus began taking longer than expected, Nikolai reached into an old shoebox of poems and rants written years ago. With his free time, he began adapting them to music. Enlisting the help of UK band South, Nickel Eye was born and started recording in Hackney, London. With guest appearances by Nick Zinner of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Regina Spektor, 'The Time of The Assassins' was completed a few months later in New York City. It is musically influenced by some of Nikolai's favourite artists, such as Neil Young, Frank Black, Leonard Cohen and The Kinks. The lyrics and theme for 'The Time of The Assassins' found their impetus during a road trip across the United States of America when Nikolai was nineteen.

Only previously available from the Carbon/Silicon website this live album is the result of seven successive and incredible Friday nights in Feb/March 2008 spent under The Westway in London, when The Inn On The Green became The Carbon Casino. With pastiche and impromptu appearances from Sienna Miller, Rhys Ifans, John Cooper Clarke, James Dean Bradfield, Topper Headon, Glenn Matlock, The Alabama Three, Pete Wylie, and many, many more, The Carbon Casinos became the hottest and coolest ticket in town for some time. Several hundred baffled punters, some of whom had travelled from Europe were regularly caught out and turned away by the "no advance ticket – and a tenner on the door" policy, which only Mick Jones and Tony James could come up with. This album captures the magic of Casino #7 recorded live and capturing all the magic of Feb 28. 2008

Since the initial groundbreaking release of 'The World of Arthur Russell' five years ago, the man has become the subject of intense media interest, with the recent release of a film about his life, as well as a new album of unreleased recordings. Holding a unique place in the history of dance music, as an artist he had the admiration of everyone from Philip Glass to Todd Terry, and as well as his solo work he also formed the seminal groups Dinosaur L and Loose Joints, redefining Dance music as both an intelligent and subversive form.
Produced by Paul Epworth, 'Tonight's Today' sounds a world away from anything on Jack Peñate's acclaimed, gold-selling 2007 debut album 'Matinée'. It's a track that oozes confidence and is a giant leap forward, fusing Peñate's wide-eyed pop songwriting with classic house influences; a blissed-out paean to still being out as the sun comes up. · With 'Tonight's Today' Jack's found a new groove and others have taken notice very quickly. Within a day of the song appearing unannounced on an XL Recordings label sampler, Radio 1's Zane Lowe made the track his Hottest Record In The World Right Now ahead of plays and plaudits from the likes of Pete Tong, Sara Cox, Rob Da Bank, Annie Mac and John Kennedy. · The brilliant response to this exciting, forward-thinking track has led to it now getting a full single release. Available on 7" and 12" vinyl and CD single, 'Tonight's Today' will also feature remixes from Juliana Barwick, Micky Moonlight and Leo Zero plus an extended mix across the various formats. · Meanwhile, Jack Peñate is currently putting the finishing touches to his second as-yet-untitled album, also produced by Paul Epworth. · "The first great single of 2009… Jack Peñate used to sound like the past, now he sounds like the future" – NME.com.

Volumes 1 and 2 of "Genius of Modern Music" are finally available for the first time as one deluxe double LP set, featuring the original track listings from the first 12" versions, originally released on Blue Note in 1956. Sides A & B, originally released as "Genius Of Modern Music, Vol. 1" (BLP-1510), feature Monk's recordings as a bandleader in 1947 and Sides C & D, originally released as "Genius Of Modern Music, Vol. 2" (BLP- 1511), feature his recordings as a bandleader for Blue Note in 1951-1952. The 1947 recordings, recorded when Monk was 30 years old, are Monk's first as a bandleader and just a glance at the track listing makes one understand why Blue Note felt it appropriate to use that title for these albums. This was Monk's first major recording, and many of the tracks here have become jazz standards.
1956 debut album by piano genius Bill Evans. His label, Riverside Records, agreed to record him after a friend played Evans' demo tape over the telephone for one of the producers! Two years later the young Evans would already be playing in the legendary Miles Davis sextet!
"Singin' To My Baby" is Eddie "Summertime Blues" Cochran's first LP, originally released in 1958, just two years before he was tragically killed in a car accident (rockabilly king Gene Vincent was also in the car, but lived) at the age of 21, while touring the UK. Despite his early death, Cochran left a lasting mark on rock & roll history. The epitome of the fifties 'rebel rocker,' and also, as music journalist Bruce Eder so rightfully put it, "rock's first high-energy guitar hero, the forerunner to Pete Townshend, Jimmy Page, Duane Allman and, at least in terms of dexterity, Jimi Hendrix." His influence was felt on everyone from the Beatles, to Blue Cheer, to the Sex Pistols (who covered Cochran's "Something Else"). Although "Summertime Blues" was his biggest hit, becoming an anthem for teen rebellion and disenchantment, many of his songs were along this vein, making him a hero to generations of disgruntled teens.
One of Lee Hazlewoods rarest recordings Movin On was only ever released in Sweden on Polydor in 1977. * Mastered from the original mastertapes the sound is crystal-clear. * The sleeve notes include reminiscences from the producer and musicians involved. Includes previously unseen photographs.

Two years on from a debut album awash with punk spirit and scorching blues-rock, London trio Noisettes make their return with 'Don't Upset the Rhythm (Go baby go) – the debut single to be released from 'Wild Young Hearts', a set of sleek pop songs steeped in soul, dizzy on disco and harking back to the days of blues and jazz greats. The Jim Abiss produced lead single is an infectious piece of contempory disco-funk that has been the soundtrack to a major Mazda TV campaign. March sees the Noisettes embark on a headline tour which is followed up by a May tour supporting Maximo Park. Don't Upset the Rhythm (Go baby go) is released on 23rd March and available on download, limited numbered 7" Picture disc and CD Single.
