THE HOOCHIE COOCHIE MEN featuring JON LORD 'Danger: White Man Dancing' [Release Date 25/05/09]
The Hoochie Coochie Men, named after the Willie Dixon song 'I'm Your Hoochie Coochie Man', are Bob Daisley [Rainbow, Ozzy Osbourne, Gary Moore, Uriah Heep] on bass, Tim Gaze on lead vocals and guitar, Rob Grosser on drums and Jim Conway on harmonica. The band got in contact with Jon Lord when the latter was playing in Australia in 2003 and ended up finding themselves rehearsing with Jon in preparation for some shows with Jon as "The Hoochie Coochie Men featuring Jon Lord". They flew up to Sydney to play at The Basement – the result being the live DVD (and CD also available as separate release) "Jon Lord with The Hoochie Coochie Men Live at The Basement". That night at The Basement, Jimmy Barnes, a friend of all, got up and sang a couple of songs, 'I'm Your Hoochie Coochie Man' being one of them. The DVD and CD were both received well, so Bob Daisley spoke to everyone about doing a studio album, which all were keen to do. They had the pleasure of including three guest vocalists on the record: Jimmy Barnes sang on two tracks as did Ian Gillan and Jeff Duff. The result was 'Danger: White Men Dancing' – a blues album that packs a hard-rock punch with well thought out arrangements and Tim singing and playing better than ever. Studio recording 'Danger: White Men Dancing' on CD. Plus 'Live At The Basement' on DVD containing the complete Live at The Basement Show. 2 Hours of great blues rock classics and standards (plus some Hoochie originals) and a fantastic new version of Deep Purple's "When a Blind Man Cries" sung by Australian rock legend Jimmy Barnes.
TONY ASHTON AND FRIENDS 'Endangered Species: Live At Abbey Road' [Release Date 25/05/09]
The cream of British rock is featured on this package. Deep Purple's Ian Paice and Jon Lord, the complete original Whitesnake line up who supported Coverdale on all the classic albums, The Who's John Entwistle, Zak Starkey (Ringo Starr's son and phenomenal drummer with The Who and Oasis), Pete York and many others. This live recording is released for the first time on (double) CD, the idea for the evening was sparked off by Jon Lord and Pete York in the honour of Tony Ashton. They booked the large and prestigious Abbey Road Studio for the special evening in 2000, and by the day of the show there was a huge list of people wanting to take part: John Entwistle [The Who], Zak Starkey [Ringo Starr's son and The Who & Oasis drummer], Chris Barber, Bernie Marsden and Mickey Moody [from the original Whitesnake line up], Eddie Hardin, Ian Paice and of course the initiators Jon Lord and Pete York to name just a few. The show kicks off with Johnnie Johnson and Dave Williams, before Pete York takes over for a short set, enlivened by Zoot Money's unexpected appearance. John Entwistle follows with half a dozen rock and roll standards (and the old Who classic 'My Generation'), backed up by Zak Starkey and John 'Rabbit' Bundrick. The old original Whitesnake line up is present in its entirety. Despite the obvious absence of David Coverdale, this was an extraordinary reunion and the first chance to see them playing together with Lord and Paice in two decades. Three of the players had been working together with Tony in what may have been the last of the seventies supergroups – Paice, Ashton, Lord. PAL, formed just weeks after Deep Purple split in 1976. After a couple of PAL tracks, they just can't ignore Tony's contribution to rock standards, and launch into a thoroughly rousing version of 'Resurrection Shuffle' and it brings the house down. The event also touched Ashton fans around the world, some of whom journeyed many miles for the event. The closing number is both indicative of the emotion and the spirit in which everyone took part. Sadly this special evening at Abbey Road turned out to be Tony's last night of rock and roll. He performed a couple of low-key jazz sets in London at Pizza On The Park a few weeks later but became very ill again and died on th May 28 2001.

THE SEEKERS 'All Bound For Morningtown [Their EMI Recordings 1964-68]' [Release Date 25/05/09]
The Seekers, one of the most popular bands in the UK in the mid-sixties formed in Australia in 1963. Originally a trio comprising of Athol Guy [double bass], Keith Podger [guitar] and Bruce Woodley [guitar], they were later joined by Judith Durham in 1964 who completed what is widely known as the "classic" line up. Selling millions of albums, and competing with the likes of The Beatles and The Rolling Stones in the charts, The Seekers' material runs from classic pop to traditional folk ballads along with covers of songs by Dylan, Paul Simon, Tom Paxton and Gordon Lightfoot, among others. Between 1965-1968 The Seekers scored eight Top 20 singles, four of which charted at Number 1. Their debut Number 1, 'I'll Never Find Another You' dislodged The Kinks from the Number 1 spot in February 1965 and made them the first Australian group to ever reach the top of the UK charts. Other Number 1s that followed include: 'A World of Our Own' (which notoriously replaced The Beatles' 'Ticket To Ride'), 'The Carnival is Over' and 'Morningtown Ride'. It was towards to end of these four successful years together that they achieved their first Number 1 album entitled 'The Best Of The Seekers' which spent three years on the UK chart before the group disbanded in 1968. The group eventually reformed in 1993 with the original line up and went on the road with their '25 Year Silver Jubilee Reunion Celebration'. This proved highly successful and gave way to the group staging several sell-out tours across Australia, New Zealand, and the UK. They reunited a final time again for the closing ceremony of the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games in October 2000 appropriately closing the event with a performance of "The Carnival Is Over". This 4CD selection gathers together the entire catalogue of tracks recorded by The Seekers and Judith Durham between 1964 and 1968. It includes Durham's four solo tracks from 1967; 'The Olive Tree', 'The Non-Performing Lion Quickstep', 'Again And Again' and 'Memories', the latter three making their first appearance on CD. Also included is the recently discovered unreleased track, the 1967 recording of Judith singing 'Paper Bird' with the Bobby Richards Orchestra from 'The Seen In Green Sessions'. Needless to say, 'All Bound For Morningtown' is an eclectic collection of The Seekers' greatest recordings that provides a fantastic journey down memory lane and reminds us why the UK originally fell for this timeless group.

IGGY POP 'Preliminaires' [Release Date 25/05/09]
Iggy Pop will release a new album called 'Préliminaires' in May 2009. The artist, considered to be the "Godfather Of Punk", returns with a quieter album, with some jazz overtones" as he explains in a video posted on his website to announce the project. "At one point I just got sick of listening to idiot thugs with guitars banging out crappy music and I've started listening to a lot of New Orleans-era, Louis Armstrong, Jelly Roll Morton type of jazz. And I've always loved quieter ballads as well." The album themes and texts have been inspired by Iggy's reading of controversial French novellist Michel Houellebecq, and his book "The Possibility Of An Island". "[The book] is about death, sex, the end of the human race, and some other pretty funny stuff […] I read the book with intense pleasure when it came out, and in my mind, I created music that would have been the music that I would hear in my soul when I read this book" explains Iggy Pop. The title 'Preliminaires' means Foreplay in French, and Iggy Pop explains that the album indeed has been done especially for France and French-speaking people. On the record, he sings in French a cover of Jazz standard 'Les Feuilles Mortes (Autumn Leaves)', originally created by Joseph Kosma and Jacques Prévert and performed in French by artists like Yves Montand and Edith Piaf. Other titles include New Orleans influenced King Of The Dogs, a story about a dog named Fox who explains "how cool it is to be a dog, and how much it beats human life", and 'How Insensitive', jazz and bossa nova standard composed by Antônio Carlos Jobim. The visuals for the album will be created by French/Iranian graphic novelist and animated film director Marjane Satrapi. Marjane and Iggy met when she asked him to do the voice of one of the characters in her Academy-award nominated animated movie 'Persepolis' in 2007.

DREAM THEATER 'Black Clouds & Silver Linings' [Release Date 22/06/09]
"This album's a musical and emotional rollercoaster, but most of our albums are," Mike Portnoy says of 'Black Clouds & Silver Linings', Dream Theater's tenth studio album and second Roadrunner release. 'Black Clouds & Silver Linings' marks another milestone on Dream Theater's iconoclastic musical journey, which began two and a half decades ago and now encompasses a hugely impressive body of music that's established the durable progressive metal outfit as a one-of-a-kind creative force with a fiercely devoted international fan base. The new album features a pair of concise numbers, 'A Rite of Passage' and 'Wither,' along with four longer pieces that exemplify the band's knack for extended, multi-part epics. Those tracks: 'A Nightmare to Remember', 'The Shattered Fortress', 'The Best of Times' and the near-20-minute album-closer 'The Count of Tuscany', showcase the compositional complexity, instrumental expertise and emotional immediacy for which the quintet has become known, along with spacious, crystalline production that emphasizes the sonic nuances of the band's playing and arrangements. "I think that this album is taking all the things that our fans love about us and putting them all in one place," states Portnoy. "A lot of the music is dark and heavy, but at the same time it has a lot of soft and melodic edges that are equally important to our sound. I compare it to what Yes did with 'Close To The Edge' or what Rush did with 'Hemispheres', where they put out a single album with just a few huge songs." In fact Dream Theater may well be the ultimate cult band, receiving relatively little mainstream exposure yet continuing to make music on their own terms while maintaining a large international fan following, whose devotion is anything but casual. "We're probably the only band that can fill Radio City Music Hall in New York or Wembley Arena in London or the Budokan in Tokyo and still not be a household name," Portnoy notes. "We have fans who follow us around on tour and rework their lives around our tour schedule, and now they're bringing their kids to the shows." "We're in an amazing situation now, where we have complete creative freedom," Portnoy concludes. "We can make any kind of record we want, and know that fans and our label will support it. We're basically making records for ourselves and our fans, and not having to worry about what anyone else thinks. It's taken 24 years to earn that, but now that we have, it's a great place to be." The special edition comes in a stunning digipack with expanded artwork and 2 bonus CD's. One features 6 cover versions of bands that have been a big influence on Dream Theater, while the other includes instrumental versions of all the album tracks.
GORILLAZ 'Bananaz' [Release Date 01/06/09]
In the late 1990's, Jamie Hewlett met Damon Albarn and the concept of Gorillaz was born sometime after. At the birth of the project, film maker Ceri Levy set about to document this undertaking. The result is 'Bananaz', 91 minutes inside the remarkable real world of Gorillaz – the most successful cartoon band ever. The film takes down the virtual walls of Gorillaz. Levy filmed alongside and behind the scenes from 2000 to 2006, from first drawings, animations, music and the musicians, through to the faces behind the voices of Murdoc, 2D, Noodle and Russel Hobbs. The result is an unsanitised, free-wheeling documentary film; an intimate, honest and often hilarious account of the working relationship between Albarn and Hewlett. With appearances by many of those who occasionally pass through this world: Dennis Hopper, De la Soul, Ibrahim Ferrer, Dangermouse, Dan the Automator, D12, Bootie Brown and Neneh Cherry. The DVD will also feature The Bananaz Home Movie Club, with up to an hour of outtakes from the film. Rolls include: Clint Eastwood, Live in Japan, The Sneeze, Hello America, Bill Murray featuring The Bees, and Food Chain amongst others.
