LITA FORD ‘Wicked Wonderland’ [Release Date 02/11/2009]

CD:   http://991.com/Buy/ProductInformation.aspx?StockNumber=488688

Ltd LP:   http://991.com/Buy/ProductInformation.aspx?StockNumber=488690

The First Lady Of Hard Rock is back!

Pioneering Hard Rock queen Lita Ford returns to action this autumn with 'Wicked Wonderland', a disc brimming with loud and lusty new tunes.

"The new album is extremely heavy, extremely sexual. I would say it's my best album yet. As soon as you hear the vocals and lead guitar, you know it's Lita. But at the same time, it's completely different, because it's so heavy." (Lita Ford)

With 'Wicked Wonderland', her first full-length studio release since 1995's 'Black', Lita shows that her flair for sexy, stomping, searing sounds has only gotten more vivid – which is mighty impressive, given a history that includes such classics as 'Kiss Me Deadly' and 'Close My Eyes Forever'. This release, created in tandem with husband Jim Gillette is a hard and heavy affirmation of the sensuality and smarts that have carried her through three decades of action.

The 13 cuts certainly touch on the sort of headbang-inducing riffage that gave Lita her start way back, but there are also surprises aplenty from the smoking slide guitar that punctuates the bluesy 'Scream' to the psychedelic industrial swirl that envelops 'Everything'. It's a potent blend, propelled by in-your-face drumming and Lita's effortless steamy vocals. With pelvis-pounding rhythms and lascivious lyrics of tunes like the appropriately-titled 'Indulge' and the so-nasty-its-nice 'Crave', Lita shows off her trademark ability to purr seductively and deliver a well-placed knockout punch on no-holds-barred songs like 'Piece (Hell Yeah)'. 'Wicked Wonderland' showcases an artist who's clearly got plenty to say and no shortage of ways to say it. A sweeping, melodic and emotional old-school Hard Rock record combined with a lot of Metal influences – A must-have in any Metalhead's collection.

"Everybody has their own Wicked Wonderland. It's a place where you can do whatever you want and get as freaky as you feel. These songs are my version of that – they're all about my life." (Lita Ford)

HAWKWIND ‘Minneapolis 4th October’ [Release Date 16/11/2009]

2CD:   http://991.com/Buy/ProductInformation.aspx?StockNumber=488767

Hawkwind first came together in 1969 formed in Ladbroke Grove, London. The band very soon gained attention or notoriety for their willingness to perform concerts for free at numerous events in and around the Ladbroke Grove area. They were soon signed to a recording deal releasing their self titled debut album in late 1969 and have regularly recorded and released albums ever since. The band also scored a massive hit single in 1972 with the perennial rock track 'Silver Machine' and a massively successful album 'Space Ritual' in 1973. Although going through a number of line up changes over the last forty years, the band have managed not only to keep the title of 'People's Band' but are still led by founder and guitarist Dave Brock and continue to play concerts and release regular studio albums. In keeping with their stance as a 'People's Band', Hawkwind have often released 'Official Bootleg' CDs and now moving forward in the twenty first century the band are now making available a number of filmed performances available on DVD. In keeping with the bands forward looking attitude on official bootlegs, the latest release comes from the bands vaults and comes from 1989 when the band were celebrating their twentieth anniversary. This album was recorded in Minneapolis on the 4th of October 1989 when the line up of the band at this time featured Dave Brock, Harvey Bainbridge, Richard Chadwick and Alan Davey. Songs featured in the set captured on this double CD include 'Magnu', 'Hassan I Sahba', 'Wind Of Change', 'Brainbox', 'Damnation Alley' and 'Ejection'.

YES ‘The Lost Broadcasts’ [Release Date 16/11/2009]

DVD:   http://991.com/Buy/ProductInformation.aspx?StockNumber=488753

In 1969, Yes managed to fit in a number of TV appearances both in the UK and Europe, including the first appearance featured on this DVD filmed for the German television programme 'Beat Club' in November 1969. The tracks performed here are 'No Opportunity Necessary, No Experience Needed', 'Looking Around' and 'Survival'. Of the three tracks, 'Looking Around' and 'Survival' were from the first Yes album and 'No Opportunity' was a Richie Havens song the band had worked up for live performance and would feature as the opening track on the bands second album 'Time and A Word' which would be released in July 1970.

The next clip featured here is a colour clip of the band performing 'Time And A Word'. The performance is a lip synched performance as was the norm for many television programmes of the time and the band seem to be enjoying themselves performing the title track of their second album.

Despite the good natured performance however, there was an underlying tension which had arisen during the recording of 'Time And A Word'. Peter Banks is featured here in possibly one of his last TV appearances with the band he helped to form. The next section of footage comes from another 'Beat Club' appearance filmed on the 19th of April 1971. The two tracks featured on the programme which was aired on the 24th of April were 'I've Seen All Good People' and 'Yours Is No Disgrace' however researchers recently found a second take of 'Yours Is No Disgrace' which is slightly faster than the original take. This second take has remained in the vault until now as it was decided to use the first take rather than the slightly faster retake. Following on from these TV performances, Yes would finally break through with their third album, The 'Yes' album and, following more changes in lineup, which saw Rick Wakeman replacing Tony Kaye, the band would go onto even greater success with albums such as 'Fragile', 'Close To The Edge' & 'Tales From Topographic Oceans' in the seventies through the eighties with albums like '90125' and 'Big Generator', and then to the bands most recent studio album, 'Magnification', which was recorded with a full orchestra in 2001 The performances featured on this DVD however are from the very early days of the band. You could say from a time 'Before and Beyond' their massive success; but the spark of what made them the massively successful band they became is visible here for all to see and hear.
