THE CRIBS ‘We Share The Same Skies’ [Release Date 09/11/2009]

"A melancholic masterpiece" – Time Out

"The Cribs of 2009 sound bold, fully realized…" – Mojo

2009 has proven to be a somewhat pivotal year for The Cribs. The band whetted the appetite early on with a couple of low key shows in Manchester previewing a handful of new songs, the Spring saw the band decamp to the States to record what was to become 'Ignore The Ignorant' and the onset of Autumn finally witnessed the scaling of the album charts when 'Ignore…' emerged high and proud at Number 8.

'We Share The Same Skies' in dispatches has quite rightly been accorded the rightful ownership of being 'one of the best songs' The Cribs have in their ever growing repertoire. The release of 'Ignore The Ignorant' has seen extraordinary plaudits showered upon a band from all quarters and is the culmination of a long and winding route for a band of brothers who have long shunned the easy route.

Mining what in recent times has been a rich vein of song writing prowess, 'We Share The Same Skies' is anchored by a refined collusion of sweeping guitar beauty courtesy of Johnny Marr entwined with Ryan Jarman's flashes of guitar gusto overseen by twin sibling Gary Jarman's evocative vocal.

The Cribs have always had a voice; it's just now people have sat up and started to listen….

JOE GODDARD ‘Harvest Festival’ [Release Date 09/11/2009]

CD:   http://991.com/Buy/ProductInformation.aspx?StockNumber=488784

Hot Chip's Joe Goddard releases his solo album 'Harvest Festival' on Greco-Roman, the label that he started with 2 other friends. A largely instrumental, electronic album, it winds from woozy ambience to the polyrhythms of London's clubland and back again, and has a strange fixation with fruit. Drawing on a number of influences from UK garage, Aphex Twin, J-Dilla, Brian Eno and of course Hot Chip, highlights include the beautiful opener 'Apple Bobbing', the upbeat club track Go Bananas and the melancholy vocal track Home Time. Joe Goddard is no stranger to clubs. As a member of Hot Chip, he's played more than his fair share, as well as remixing, and being remixed by, the great and the good. As a DJ, he's been around the world on top of masterminding 'Bugged Out' and 'DJ Kicks' compilations. The fourth Hot Chip album is due in February 2010 and this album will squarely appeal to their fanbase in the meantime.

Martha Wainwright stamps her je ne sais quoi on a beautiful selection of rare and acclaimed Edith Piaf songs, passionately sung and romantically interpreted by Martha on her stunning album 'Sans Fusils, Ni Souliers, A Paris. Martha Wainwright's Piaf Record' out November 9th.

The album was recorded over three intimate performances in New York's Dixon Place Theatre in June. Produced by Hal Willner, Martha Wainwright assembled a unique band of musicians including long-time collaborator Brad Albetta, who produced Martha's first two albums, pianist Thomas Bartlett and electric guitarist/multi-instrumentalist Doug Wieselman to capture the French chanteuse's venerable catalogue, beautifully coupled with Martha's incredible, evocative and characterful voice.

Cautious of avoiding the cliché of looking sad, pretending to be drunk with a glass of absinthe on the table, Martha creates tension and urgency on this charming 15-track record – delivered with paralleled emotion conveying Edith Piaf's mystical vulnerability. Highlights include 'Adieu Mon Coeur', 'Vieux Piano', 'Une Enfant' and a transfixing version of 'La Foule'.

Growing up in Montreal and speaking French at school, Martha was totally influenced and captivated by Piaf as a child, having listened to her music since the age of eight. "There are certain things about her that I have always been influenced by," says Martha. "The emotive sensibility of her voice. She's an incredibly emotional singer and I've always been an incredibly emotional singer and pained singer."
