Nick Cave’s latest hit: a speed camera in Brighton

Singer uninjured after crashing Jaguar into roadside barrier on the Hove seafront on Tuesday

Nick Cave escaped unscathed after crashing his car on the Hove seafront on Tuesday night. The Bad Seeds singer drove into a roadside barrier not far from his Brighton home, damaging a speed camera.

Police were called to the Kingsway carriageway at about 7pm, according to a statement, after a "53-year-old Hove man" drove his Jaguar through the metal barrier, colliding with the pillar-mounted camera. Cave and his 10-year-old sons, Andrew and Earl, were found in the car. All walked away unharmed.

"No other vehicles or people were involved," said a Sussex police spokesman. "The camera belongs to the Sussex Safer Roads Partnership, not the police, and the railings belong to the local highway authority. Both agencies were informed. Nobody has been arrested but police inquiries are continuing."
