Top 10 ‘ones’ this week, including Jimi Hendrix, The Who, Madonna, Hawkwind, MBV & more

Jimi Hendrix – Smash Hits (1969 US MS2025) LP

Original US pressing with different tracks to the UK issue, unique picture sleeve plus large fold-out colour poster of the Experience on horses dressed as cowboys! And it’s still sealed…

The Who – My Generation (1966 US DL74664) LP

Super rare stereo OG from ’66. This classic is a US press with a small deletion cut and somehow never opened. A miracle copy!

The Carpenters – The Compact Disc Collection (1989 UK CARCD20) 12-CD

Limited edition 12-CD box set containing 137 tracks in total, complete with lavish photograph album, sleeve notes by Richard Carpenter and an essay by Ray Coleman, all housed inside a deluxe 12" square numbered box with group logo embossed in gold. And, yes, it’s sealed!

Madonna – Bedtime Stories (1995 US) CD

Rare and limited US-only CD, beautifully presented in a unique pale blue velvet embossed digipak with lyric booklet. These were issued for promotional use only and are now increasingly hard to find!

Hawkwind – Space Ritual (1973 US UA-LA120-H) 2-LP

Rare original US issue 16-track double LP, regarded by many as one of the band's finest releases, housed in an elaborate picture sleeve which folds out to a huge 36" x 24" display. Sealed!

My Bloody Valentine – Strawberry Wine (1987 UK LAZY07T) 12”

Limited to 2500 copies, this 12” was before MBV became the archetypal shoegazer band and were more pure pop than ethereal. The lead track had strong tinges of the C-86 pop scene typified by the fuzzy jangling guitars, crisp drumming and swirling vocals. Though the EP is less than 10 minutes in length, it is a mighty powerful piece of music with probably the most audible vocals ever to grace a MBV release

Pink Floyd – The Dark Side Of The Moon (2003 UK) LP

Remastered 30th Anniversary Edition LP pressed on heavyweight virgin vinyl, presented in the iconic gatefold sleeve with stickers and posters. These copies were exported to the US with promo marked barcodes, and remain sealed from new

Jackie Lomax – Is This What You Want? (1969 US ST-3354) LP

Original US issue produced by George Harrison, featuring an all-star cast including George, Paul, Ringo, Eric Clapton and Klaus Voorman. Of course, the single Sour Milk Sea is included, but better yet is The Eagle Laughs At You (which was the b-side), a mod dancefloor destroyer if ever there was one!

Material featuring Whitney Houston & Archie Shepp – Memories (1984 French CELNY193) 12”

Rare French-only collaborative 12" with unique picture sleeve. Quite a line-up!

The Animals – We've Gotta Get Out Of This Place (Japanese OR-1421) 7”

Pressed on rather striking Red Vinyl and featuring I Can't Believe It on the b-side, this comes with a unique fold-out picture/lyric insert exclusive to this release.
