Genesis & Rush fly the prog flag topping recent polls

Rush who recently graced the UK as part of the European leg of their massive Time Machine Tour have been voted 'Greatest Live Act In The World Today' beating another 29 bands including Iron Maiden, Metallica and U2 among other huge live acts to the finish line! – the poll was recently held by 'musician's website' Music Radar shortly after the band's successful run of UK shows which culminated at London's O2 Arena. Meanwhile, pioneering progressive band Genesis stormed the chart as clear winners in Classic Rock Presents Prog Magazine's recent poll for their Reader's 'Top Ten Favourite Albums of 1971 "The Year That Prog Broke"' with their groundbreaking third album 'Nursery Cryme'. With Pink Floyd's 'Meddle' coming in at 2nd place followed by 'The Yes Album', the band held off some seriously big hitting contenders. Other worthy votes came in for Gentle Giant's 'Acquiring The Taste', King Crimson's 'Islands', Van Der Graaf Generator's 'Pawn Hearts', Jethro Tull's 'Aqualung' and Caravan's 'In The Land Of Grey & Pink' securing them places in the top ten with classics from Can, Gong and Hawkwind just bubbling under the number 10 spot!  read more here at classic rock presents prog
