An inclusion in Rolling Stone Magazine's top 500 greatest records of all-time and laying down the blueprint for countless indie records for the best part of the 3 following decades (and counting!) is no mean feat and as this week marks the 25th Anniversary of The Smith's indie cult classic album 'The Queen Is Dead' its no surprise that music journalists far and wide having been writing glowing tributes these past few days praising one of THE iconic modern records of the last century, considered as important and jaw dropping today as it was during its inception 25 years ago!
Featuring such inspired songs like Cemetry Gates, The Boy With The Thorn In His Side, Big Mouth Strikes Again and Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others, the band's 3rd and penultimate album saw Johnny Marr and Morrissey in incredible writing form both lyrically and musically, fine tuning in some ways on the past and in others sounding all the more raw, resulting perhaps in post-highly demanding touring as well as record label turbulence fueling what would become an album for generations, even if Morrissey doesn't think it's quite that great!
