Recently when out on my travels I picked up a fantastic collection of rare and interesting Folk records, from various periods. It included Avant-folk, and Irish Folk, and even some jolly East-Anglian Folk songs to down pints of ale too on a hot summers eve! Some of the artists include Richard Thompson, Dave Swarbrick, Martin Carthy, The Watersons, The Albion Band, and many more. Below are just a few of the highlights that appeared.
RICHARD & LINDA THOMPSON Hokey Pokey – 1974 UK pink rimmed Island Records label 10-track vinyl LP, with picture sleeve & lyric inner. The inner shows some light foxing at the top, but the vinyl and sleeve remain in spectacular Near Mint condition! An Avant-Folk classic from the ever prolific Richard and Linda Thompson!
MARTIN CARTHY & DAVE SWARBRICK Second Album - 1977 UK issue of the 1966 13-track LP with picture sleeve. One of the highlights of Martin Carthy and Dave Swarbricks many releases together! The sleeve shows minimal edge scuffing or shelf wear & the vinyl is flawless – a great copy!
ALBION COUNTRY BAND Battle Of The Field – Original 1976 UK 9-track vinyl LP on the black Island label with pink 'i' logo, picture sleeve. Both sleeve & vinyl are in excellent condition, and classic Folk release!
RICHARD THOMPSON Henry The Human Fly – Very hard to find 1972 UK 12-track LP on the pink rimmed Island 'palm tree' label, housed in a matt pinched spine picture sleeve, complete with Island company inner. The sleeve shows only the very faintest traces of wear and the vinyl is in near mint condition with light spindle marks to the labels – still a superb copy and this particular pressing rarely surfaces!
We also have many other great folk titles in stock that prove that the often laughed at genre is more than neckerchiefs, waistcoats, and people playing a washboard, but actually includes some of the finest and most honest music ever produced! Head to 991.com to browse our Folk catalogue!
