Heavy metal legends Black Sabbath have won a lifetime achievement prize at the Ivor Novello songwriting awards this afternoon. Picked up the trophy, Tony Iommi confirmed that the band would embark on their “final tour” next year.
Welsh band the Manic Street Preachers were given the inspiration award, marking almost 25 years of agitprop rock anthems, with Nicky Wire giving thanks to the band’s original lyricist Richie Edwards.
