Trying to explain what exactly constitutes rock music could take a life time. It is one of the broadest genres, and can be given almost any prefix. Prog-rock, alt-rock, jazz-rock, punk rock, psych rock…. the list is endless. It has been the subject much discussion, and rock has even been declared dead on numerous occasions.
Judging by the amount of rare and collectable vinyl we see from almost every corner of the rock music lexicon, the genre is very much alive and well. Below are a few of the latest arrivals we have in stock, ready to find a place in your collection. You can search for your favourite artists in our store to see our full range.
Traffic – Mr Fantasy: 1967 UK pink ‘eye’ logo label 10-track MONO LP, the band’s debut release, (issued in the US as Heaven Is In Your Mind) the only Traffic album to feature Dave Mason, who parted ways with the group shortly before the album was released. Far more psychedelic and experimental than latter Traffic releases, this album was critically well-received and amassed a cult following, suitably trippy internal pocket front laminated gatefold picturesleeve. The sleeve shows few signs of discolouration, with a little wear at the spine and a couple of creases at the corners. The vinyl remains in excellent condition with just a couple of very light surface scuffs to show for over fifty years £250
Walter Trout – 25th Anniversary Edition Collectable Series: 2014 Dutch limited edition complete set of TEN 25th Anniversary series audiophile double LPs pressed on 180gm White vinyl and limited to just one hundred copies worldwide each. These copies remain FACTORY SEALED from new in the original hand number stickered shrinkwrap and are therefore still mint & unplayed £395
Assagai – Assagai: Impossibly rare 1971 Vertigo ‘swirl’ label 8-track vinyl LP – a fantastic copy of the South African band’s debut album. A truly pioneering piece in the Afro-rock scene, comprising of the cream of African musicians based in the UK, presented in a matt gatefold picture sleeve, complete with original swirl inner. The sleeve shows remarkably little wear for its 40+ years, with just a 1″ seam split to the bottom edge due to the weight of the vinyl, but otherwise just thelightest touch of edge scuffing here or there, but nothing to interfere with the artwork or spine text. The labels are clean and reveal just a little faint spindle wear when held to the light. The vinyl has light surface scuffs and hairlines and is graded as EX-/VG+; after professional cleaning, playtesting revealed just a little light crackle in places, but nothing excessive, allowing the warm, deep beats to really shine through & shake the office! A highly recommended Vertigo stunner £250
