We buy a lot of record collections here at 991.com, and once in a while you get something really special turn up. Such was the case earlier this week, when one of buyers struck gold with a collection of rare and vintage items, that covered pop, soul, jazz and beyond.
Below are just a few of the highlights from the collection, and you can see more in the video we have put together.
Martha Reeves & The Vandellas – What Am I Going To Do Without Your Love: Rare 1966 UK ‘A’ label demonstration vinyl 7″ for the single release on Tamla Motown, also including Go Ahead And Laugh, with four-prong centre, ‘Demonstration Record – NotFor Sale’ print & ‘24.6.66’ release date, original Tamla Motown die-cut company sleeve. The vinyl is stunning Near Mint. £125
Herbie Goins & The Night Timers – No. 1 In Your Heart: Archive Quality 1966 UK ‘A’ label demonstration vinyl 7″ for the single release, with four-prong centre, ‘Demonstration Record – Not For Sale’ print & ‘8.7.66’ release date. This is a firm Northern Soul/Mod favourite recorded at Abbey Road, starring some of the cream of the 60s British RnB boom including Harry Beckett, Mike Carr & a young John McLaughlin, who has the writer’s credit for the b-side ‘Cruisin’. Herbie went on to front Alexis Korner’s group & this is a very collectable & valuable 45 for any 60s Parlophone/British Beat collector. Obtained from a former record shop owner who hoarded records & never played them, the vinyl is stunning Near Mint & appears unplayed. The labels are near ‘as new’ with no marks or blemishes, complete with the original Parlophone company die-cut paper sleeve. Blue chip investment grade £350
Cliff Richard – Listen To Cliff!: 1961 UK first issue 16-track mono LP on the green & gold Columbia label, with Cliff aided & abetted by The Shadows plus Norrie Paramor & his Orchestra, front laminated flipback picture sleeve with original ‘Emitex’ inner. This is an incredible one previous owner copy. The sleeve & vinyl are stunning Near Mint £75
