For better or worse, the ‘90s will be remembered for a lot of iconic moments, but mostly it will be for the music. There was the rise of Brit Pop and the battle between Oasis and Blur, Nirvana bringing grunge to the mainstream and influencing an entire generation to wear a plaid shirt, the Spice Girls taking over the world, and Jarvis Cocker’s stage invasion during Michael Jackson’s performance at the Brit Awards.
While music was more popular than virtually any other decade, vinyl was on the decline. CD was the chosen format, rendering cassettes obsolete, and causing vinyl sales to dwindle. Record companies began pressing less and stores rarely stocked anything other than the biggest selling titles. Now, many of the albums of the time are considered collector’s items and sell for premium prices.
We don’t always see that many collections of ‘90s vinyl here, but when we do, you can almost guarantee them to be of a high quality both in condition and content. Below are a few highlights we have in stock, and be sure to keep an eye on our latest arrivals.
Cocteau Twins – Four-Calendar Cafe: Rare 1993 UK 10-track vinyl LP, the seventh album by the Scottish combo, their first for Fontana, includes Bluebeard and Know Who You Are at Every Age, housed in the picture sleeve with printed inner. Aside from a little shelfwear to the spine edge however, the vinyl has light signs of play. A great copy of a hard to find album.
Paul Weller – Heavy Soul: 1997 UK limited edition 12-track LP, including the great title track and Peacock Suit, housed in a gatefold picture sleeve with internal pocket, complete with illustrated inner & lyric insert. Apart from the beginnings of a split long the top edge and a crease to the insert the sleeve, overall, has minimal wear, whilst the vinyl has just the odd light scuff/hairline to indicate play.
Catherine Wheel – Ferment: Limited Edition 1992 UK 11-track LP complete with bonus 3-track 12″ ‘live’ EP featuring Shallow, I Want To Touch You & Salt, housed in a custom stickered & fully textured picture sleeve with illustrated inner. The packaging & the vinyl discs appear Near Mint. A gorgeous one owner copy!
